Life During Lockdown: What I've Learned

Hope you’ve all had another good week in lockdown. I know it’s not easy being cooped up, but it’s definitely for the best right now. What things have you been doing this week to keep busy? I’ve been drawing, baking and icing biscuits, reading, painting my nails, and Facetiming friends. It’s kept me busy enough, but I had a couple of down days, as I think we all have. It’s hard when there doesn’t seem to be much of an ending in site, but I wanted to reflect this week, after being in lockdown for a month, about some of the things I’ve learned during this strange and trying time.

This blog post is all about what I’ve learned and how it’s changed my outlook on life after lockdown. Comment down below what you think lockdown has taught you.

Spring Style, Supporting Small Brands, & the Little Things

Hope you’re all doing alright. I’m having a bit of a down/un-motivated day today, I must admit, which I’m sure we’re all having a little bit more frequently at the moment. (I can’t wait to look back at blog posts like this and feel grateful that we made it through this hard time.) Hope you all had a lovely (indoor) Easter last weekend. I took a little blogging break so I could enjoy the holiday as normally as possible, but back at it this week.

For today’s blog post, I just wanted to talk about things that have been giving me a little bit of joy here and there during lockdown. Maybe they might spark a little joy for you too, and hopefully documenting them will remind me to be more upbeat and grateful.

A Horoscope for Your Style

Can’t believe we’ve made through another week in lockdown. What have you been up to keep yourself busy and motivated? I’ve been trying to keep up my drawing everyday and this week we made Banoffee pie, which was delish (recipe here if you want to give it a go)! I’ve also been trying to run most days so that I get my fair share of fresh air and exercise. Another thing I’ve been doing if reading plenty of horoscopes, maybe to give me hope for better days and maybe just out of boredom, which leads me onto this week’s post.

Anyway, I’ve been planning on writing this blog post for a while now, and I thought now would be the perfect time, since I know you’re all at home and doing a bit of online shopping for when we’re all free again. Below are your style horoscopes, aka the pieces you should be adding to your wardrobe for spring/summer based on your zodiac sign (even if it means rocking them inside for a while.) At the bottom of this blog post,. I’ve also linked my suggestions for each sign.

Why You Should Dress Up Even if You Have Nowhere to Go

How are you all doing in self-isolation? The UK is officially on lockdown now, and I must admit that I’m losing track of the days now. I almost forgot that today was blog post day. What have you been doing to keep busy in self isolation? I’ve been drawing, reading, baking, puzzling, and working out to keep myself busy. It’s been nice to revisit some of my old hobbies and reconnect with friends through Facetime. I even made a pub quiz to do with my family this weekend. Anyway, let’s get on to this week’s post.
Today, I wanted to talk about how important it is to get dressed up even if you have nowhere to go. I think this is more important now that ever, and below I’ve explained why. Hopefully, this post will get you out of your sweatpants and wearing some of your favorite dresses again, even if just to walk to the kitchen or a stroll to the living room.

Tips for Keeping Busy While Social Distancing

Hope you’re all coping with being cooped up indoors. I must admit, I’m finding it a lot more difficult that expected. Personally, I’m quite a homebody and an introvert, but I think it’s the uncertainty of not know how long this will last and worrying about elderly family members that have got me feeling the most anxious. This is a crazy time we’re living in, and we must remember to breathe and stay positive. So, let’s focus on happier things! For this blog post, I’ve come up with some things you can do to keep yourself busy during this weird time.

Fashion Challenge: Make a Hoodie Stylish

Hope you’re having a lovely weekend, dispute the weird virus hysteria. I’m trying to not think too much about it and just get on with my life haha.

For this week’s post, I wanted to challenge myself to style something I don’t normally consider part of my everyday wardrobe; a hoodie. I know it’s a staple in most peoples casual wardrobes, but I wanted to see how I could make this cozy piece more fashion-forward. Below are my tips for styling this usually quite casual piece for a more fashionable outfit.

Take Your Tartan into Spring

How are you doing on this bright and sunny Sunday? I’ve been having a chilled one today, but I went out early this morning to enjoy the sun (just started using the Couch to 5k app to start running…it wasn’t easy but easier than expected so I’ll keep you updated). Friday night I went to an art exhibit opening with my friend, Vincenza, and yesterday, I walked around Shoredtich and made some orange scones, so it’s been quite a nice and relaxing weekend.

We all know by now that I’m a huge fan of tartan, and I try to incorporate it wherever and whenever I can. Of course, I didn’t want to bid the pattern adieu with the coming of spring and the inevitable packing away of big scarves and wool trousers, so I’ve found a few ways to bring it right into spring. Below are the ways I’ll be incorporating tartan, aka plaid, into my warmer weather looks.

Colour Forecast: Spring 2020

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend doing fun things. I’ve been in Newcastle visiting my brother and Felicia. We’ve been eating, shopping, and playing with the hamster all weekend. To combat those Sunday evening blues and to start feeling motivated for the week ahead, comment down below with something you’re excited for this week or next weekend. I’m excited to go for an interview on Tuesday for a stylist position. Anyway, let’s get on to this week’s colourful blog post.
Typically, this time of year, I talk about the most popular shades to add to your spring and summer wardrobe. (If you want to check last spring’s colour forecast click here.) I thought I’d follow on the four year old tradition and dedicate this post to the most popular new colours for SS20. According to Pantone, the colour gods, the hues below are the ones to keep an eye out for and which will suit you best.

London Fashion Week AW20 Recap

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. What did you get up to? I celebrated one of my friends, Megan’s, birthday on Friday and then have been watching Netflix and doing my yoga the rest of the weekend pretty much. I think I’m still catching up from my very busy last couple weeks. They included our mini Paris trip, my cousin, Neave, visiting, and London Fashion Week AW20, which is exactly what I’m here to talk about in this post.

I’ve been attending LFW for four seasons now, which is insane, because it’s just flow by. (This August, I will have lived in London for two years…what) Anyway, let’s forget about how fast time is flying and talk about fashion instead! This year I was lucky enough to attend four days of shows. Below is a breakdown of what I got to see each day and my thoughts on each show.

My Mini Guide to Paris

How have your weekends been? I’ve had a busy one, as London Fashion Week is upon us again! I’ve been dodging the rain and running from show to show, but loving every minute. Comment what you’re been up to below! For this week’s blog post we’re looking back to the beginning of the week when I was lucky enough to be in Paris with my friend, Jade!
After traveling to the city of love twice, I thought it was only right that I do one of my mini guides for this city as well. Probably the easiest country to travel to, from London, France, our main-land neighbor, hosts the world famous city of Paris. You’ve all heard about it and a lot of you might have already been, but I’ve compiled my must-dos and must-sees of this magical place.
