London Fashion Week AW20 Recap
Happy Sunday friends!
Hope you all had a lovely weekend. What did you get up to? I celebrated one of my friends, Megan’s, birthday on Friday and then have been watching Netflix and doing my yoga the rest of the weekend pretty much. I think I’m still catching up from my very busy last couple weeks. They included our mini Paris trip, my cousin, Neave, visiting, and London Fashion Week AW20, which is exactly what I’m here to talk about in this post.
I’ve been attending LFW for four seasons now, which is insane, because it’s just flown by. (This August, I will have lived in London for two years…what) Anyway, let’s forget about how fast time is flying and talk about fashion instead! This year I was lucky enough to attend four days of shows. Below is a breakdown of what I got to see each day and my thoughts on each show.
Day 1: Friday February 14th
Friday started off with the Ones to Watch show at Fashion Scout, where I got to see some up-and-coming designers. First up was some amazing Menswear pieces by Young n Sang. I also loved versatile pieces by designer Saintego that had double function, like a jacket becoming a bag. I think pieces like this, with a double function, could become very popular. The next show was Rocky Star, which featured some amazingly dark and edgy pieces. I especially loved the use of feathers. The final show for Friday was Rohmir. My roommate, Megan, joined me for this one, and we raved about the green suit and pale blue trench coat (below) in particular.
Day 2: Saturday February 15th
The weather on Saturday was less than ideal, but I still managed to make it to a couple of events. The first was the show by Marques Almeida, which was probably my favorite of the whole season. There was fur. There were feathers. There were rich colours. It was an amazing combination and the music seemed to compliment the pieces so well. (See two of the yellow looks above.) That afternoon, I dodged the rain as best I could and went to a presentation featuring multiple designers. I love the 70s inspired Flarestreet pieces the most. I also noticed that there was a big focus this season on sustainability, which makes me hopeful that even a wasteful industry like the fashion industry is making strides in the right direction.
Day 3: Sunday February 16th
Sunday morning I went to see a presentation by Katie Ann McGuigan. The details of her collection were stunning, like the printed heels on her shoes (above). I loved the colour palette of pinks and turquoises as well. That afternoon, I went to see another show featuring the rising stars of the London fashion industry, called Future Creatives at Fashion Scout. I love seeing such inspiring new designers sharing their ideas. It makes me excited for the future of fashion.
Day 4: Monday February 17th
Neave was by my side for the last show of this season, Olivia Rubin. The show was amazing and we got to sit on the front row, so we saw the pieces in all their colourful glory. For this show, we were met with pretty polka dots, all the ice cream pastels you can dream of, and amazing colour blocking. (See images above and to the right.)
Thank you for reading my LFW recap. I hope you enjoyed reading about all the amazing shows I got to experience last weekend. Comment down below if you have any questions about the London Fashion Week experience. I also have an Instagram highlight dedicated to this fashion week if you’d like to see more photos and videos of the shows. Unfortunately, I didn’t really get any outfit photos because of the horrendous weather, but don’t worry because I’ll wear them again and get them shot for the blog soon. Have an amazing week guys!
