Relax. Reset. Repeat.

Hello lovelies,

Happy Sunday friends! How has your week been? I’ve been working on a new sewing project (soon to be shared on Instagram), running, baking brownies, and catching up with friends via FaceTime. I’ve been enjoying a bit of sunshine in between snow showers too. Winter weather isn’t all bad. What’s one thing that’s brightened your week?
This week, I wanted to dedicate my post to our mini beach trip and some of the relaxing things that have helped me reset and relax in January. These simple, anxiety-relieving methods have helped me in this strange and stressful time, so I’m hoping they might help you too. Leave a comment down below with how you’ve been relieving stress during lockdown.

Reading

Reading is a great escape when it comes to relieving stress and resetting your mind. I’ve been getting back into my reading again this month and I’ve already finished book number one, Date Night by Samantha Hayes. Now I’m on to The Thursday Night Murder Club, so I’ll update you on what I think of this read soon too. I think there’s a book for everyone, so give it a go and look for something that might take your fancy.

Exercise or Meditate

Everyone knows that exercise is a great way to relieve stress by releasing endorphins, but meditation and breathing can also be a route if you don’t enjoy exercise as much. Personally, I always feel less stressed and in a better mood when I’ve moved my body. Running is still my preferred method, but I also enjoy yoga and doing workout videos.

Spend Time Outdoors

Nature is a soothing and calming place to be when trying to reduce anxiety according to many professionals. Listening to the sound of the ocean was very therapeutic for me when we were in Destin and getting outside proved very important for my mental health during 2020.

Get Creative

Getting creative has always been a mood-booster for me, whether it’s painting, putting together outfits, painting my nails, or other similar things. Creative projects are great for clearing and refocusing your mind. This week I’ve been working on a sewing project and creating content for my social media. I’ve also been thinking about picking up painting again while I have all my supplies here with me. What’s your favourite creative outlet?

SpenDing Time With Animals

As an animal-lover, I can’t say enough good things about them, but I do genuinely believe they help to relieve stress. Many animals have a calming nature about them and just sitting and stroking a dog can help ease your mind. Also taking care of an animal takes time and effort and shifts your focus from negative, stressful thoughts. If you can, find a furry friend to ease your mind, whether that’s a friends pooch or a horse in a nearby pasture.
Thank you for reading this week’s blog post! I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing our beachy photos and reading about my relaxing suggestions. What do you do to relax? Remember to follow me on Instagram for updates on my sewing project and next baking venture. Also, check back next week for a new post and have a great week guys!
