Happy Sunday friends,

As per usual, hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend! I’ve spent the week and weekend trying to fight the British summer heat with no fan or ac. Let me tell you, it’s not been easy in 96 degree weather. I have to say, I do appreciate the sunshine though.

For this week’s blog post, I wanted to discuss how my life has changed after lockdown and the positives that have come out of this strange and tragic time. Despite the terrible virus and constantly worrying about friends and family, I’ve decided that lockdown has been a helpful time for me. I think lockdown served as a much-needed time for me to reset my mind, routine, and my habits. Below are some of the most positive things for me that have come out of being in lockdown.

Spark of Creativity

The most positive thing I’ve found during lockdown is a new spark of creativity. The lockdown rules provided a big challenge when it came to creating content. In the beginning, I was resigning myself to the fact that I might not be able to post as much, or I would have to repost old content, but instead I decided to take the challenge head on. I honestly haven’t felt this inspired about my blog and content in a while, and lockdown helped me grow as a creative individual.

Becoming a Book Worm

I’ve mentioned it previously, but I just wanted to mention again how lockdown has encouraged me to pick up my passion for reading again. (You can find reviews of all the books I’ve read this year so far here. ) I haven’t read this much in years, and lockdown allowed me to slow and remember how much I enjoy escaping into another world.

Exercise

As I mentioned in previous posts, lockdown provided me with the time to get back into a good workout routine and I’ve found it to be such a mood booster. It’s given me a routine and something to focus on during a time that was quite uncertain for me.

Experimenting in the Kitchen

While living with Fergus & Felicia, I started to become a bit braver and more experimental in the kitchen. I’ve always loved trying different foods and I’m not picky at all, but I’ve also always been a nervous cook. While in lockdown, we ordered Gousto boxes, which is like an ingredients subscription box that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to make different meals. This helped to teach me some basics in the kitchen and got me more familiar with new ingredients and how to cook them.

Self Awareness

Maybe most importantly, lockdown has encouraged me to become a lot more self-aware. On a daily basis now, I ask myself what I’m grateful for, what I did to make myself happy that day, and what I can do to achieve what I want. I’m now more aware of how to boost my own mood, how to inspire myself, and what my body needs.

Thank you so much for reading this week’s blog post. Leave a comment below with something positive that you’ve found during lockdown. Aside from the devastating virus that has unfortunately ruined lives, plans, and businesses, I do believe this time has forced us all to slow a bit and re-connect with others and ourselves in a different way. Do you agree? Anyway, check out my Instagram if you want to keep up with me on a daily basis and check back next Sunday for a new post. Have a lovely week friends!
