New Year, New Goals in 2020
Happy New Year friends!
So sorry I’ve been m.i.a. recently! I wanted to spend a couple weeks really enjoying being with the people I love over the holidays. My parents came over from the US and we all spent a lovely Christmas with our family in Derbyshire. Then, I came back to London to spend New Years with my lovely long-time pal, Savannah. The day after, we jetted off to Amsterdam for a couple days, which was an amazing trip (mini guide to Amsterdam coming soon!). Needless to say, it has been an extremely busy couple of weeks, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Anyway, it’s time to get back on track with this year’s first blog post.
First, I wanted to look back at some of the resolutions I made last year and if I managed to achieve them. I always find January to be a very hard time of year. I’m missing my family that I just spent time with, the excitement of the holidays have passed, and there seems to be nothing to look forward to. Looking over my past goals and creating new ones has always been a therapeutic thing for me to do this time of year. Below are the new resolutions I’ve set for myself this year along with my thoughts on last year’s.
Past Resolutions…How did I do?
In this blog post, last year, I set myself the usual goals. First, I wanted to travel more. I think I’ve done quite well, as I’ve travelled to three places I’ve never been to this year; Paris, Lisbon, and Amsterdam. Next, was to make more friends, which I think I’ve managed to do. Next, I wanted to be more money smart, which is a task I’d like to continue this year. Finally, I wanted to do more things on my own. I’ve become so much better at going to museums, shopping, and doing other things on my own. Overall, I’m pretty proud of everything I achieved this past year.
Be More Confident (in life & love)
Although many of you might be thinking I seem like a very confident person, I definitely need to be more confident when it comes to certain areas of my life like work and love. This year, I want to push past my fears and be more brave in these areas. Worrying less about things I can’t change is all part of this resolution too.
Move More
The end of last year, I started doing yoga about 6 times a week. Although it’s a low-impact sport, I find it still makes me feel ten times better in my mind and body. I want to continue my yoga this year and try to move more whenever I can.
Don’t Take My Health for Granted
After getting over another cold, I’ve realized that I don’t need to take my health for granted. I need to sign myself up for a doctor here in London and work harder to get all the right vitamins and minerals to keep my body in good health. I also need to be mindful and grateful of how lucky I am to be in good health.
Thanks so much for reading this week’s blog post and for coming back after my little holiday blogging break. Comment down below with the resolutions and goals you’ve set for yourself in 2020. Check back next week for a new blog post about what we got up to in Amsterdam. Have a lovely week!
