How to Upcycle Your Holiday Dresses

Hello lovelies,

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend and have survived this colder-than-expected March weather, especially if you were hit by the, so called, Beast from the East!  Luckily, we made it out here with only a couple smaller flurries and a drop in temperature.  Our trees are still blooming though, as you can see!  For today's blog post, I thought it would be a great idea to talk about how you can re-style and recycle your New Year's Eve, Christmas, and other party dresses to make them more casual and spring appropriate!  Wearing dresses in a casual way is one of my favorite outfits, and dresses are such easy outfits once you pair them with just a few accessories.

Casual Shoes

The number one way to dress down any dress, including your holiday one, is to pair it with some casual shoes.  Ditch those uncomfortable heels for some trendy white tennis shoes or a pair of ankle boots similar to mine here!  My studded boots contrast the girly dress with a biker vibe.  That juxtaposition makes the outfit feel more casual and is definitely a lot more comfortable.  Use this trick to make any dress in your closet more appropriate for daywear rather than fancy party.

Jackets

Jackets are another great accessory to help take a dress from fancy to casual Friday night out.  You can throw on something like a biker jacket or denim jacket to dress-down any look, especially a dress. Plus, dresses with jackets always create this awesome contrast and seem more unexpected.

Down-do

Wearing your hair down, rather than up like you might have for you New Year's Eve gathering, also helps to ground a fancy outfit.
