What My University Years Have Taught Me

Happy Sunday everyone,

I hope you are all having an amazing weekend filled with hot chocolate and cozy evenings by a fire or with a great movie.  Today, I'm excited to share with you that I am officially a university graduate!  I am proud to say, I graduated yesterday with my Bachelor's of Fine Arts.  Looking back on the past four years and all the things I have accomplished has inspired me to write here on the blog about some of the important things I've learned during my undergraduate degree.

Know That You Will Change and Grow

College is something that changes you.  You are exposed to so much more than your small-town high school and your little home-life bubble.  You will also learn so much more about the world, people, and what you're most interested in.  Remember to be open minded towards everything, soak up everything like a sponge, and accept the change.

Accept Defeat & Learn from It

Before entering college, the idea of failure or defeat was something I was completely scared of, but everyone fails every now and then.  It is part of human nature, and the best we can do is accept it and do better next time.  Nobody is perfect and that means defeat is inevitable sometimes, just never give up.

Constructive criticism is Good

When I first started university, I was still hurt by the constructive criticisms given by teachers, friends, and family, but the past four years have taught me to listen to that criticism and run with it!  This is your chance to improve yourself and your skills.  Take outsiders' perspectives seriously because you can change or grow for the better.

Stick Up For Yourself

You are no longer a child and this means you have to be brave enough to hold your ground and stand up for yourself and what you want and believe.  You should be treated, respected, and listened to like an adult, so stand up for yourself like an adult would.

You Are in Charge of your own life

One of the most important things I've learned over my university years, is that you are the boss of your own life.  If you want something, go and get it.  The only person you can depend on to make your life what you want it to be, is yourself, so take charge and make it happen.

Thank you so much for reading some of the little things I have learned over the past four years.  Comment down below with something you learned during your college career, or what you're excited for if you haven't gone to college yet!  I'd love to hear from you!  Check back again next week for another post, and follow me on Instagram and Facebook for more daily outfits!
