Orange You glad to See Me?
Happy weekend guys!
How’s your Sunday going? We’ve had a pretty nice weekend. Yesterday, we went to the coast and spent the day reading on the beach, eating ice cream, and hunting for cool rocks and shells as we walked along the beach. Today has been quite chilled. We’ve walked around town to get a few bits for dinner and watched a movie. Tonight is the weekly' family quiz, so I’m excited for that, but anyway let’s get on to this week’s post.
For this week’s blog post, I’ve decided to challenge myself, and you, to wear a colour you’re normally afraid to wear. My colour is orange. I’ve always been a bit unsure as to whether it suited me or not, and I find that it has to be exactly the right shade for me to like it. Below are some guidelines that I follow to help me get over my fear of orange and falling in love with these trousers.
Research your Shade
When approaching a colour you normally shy away from, I recommend pairing it with neutrals or doing a little research to find which hue will best compliment it. Colour is a complicated, but fun thing. I would know, as I took an entire course at university only about colour! I bring up the trusty old colour wheel a lot, but using it to guide your colour combining can make all the difference. (I’ve add a colour wheel below and remember colours compliment each other if they are directly across from one another on the wheel.)
Start Small
I decided to go all out with trousers, but you can start small. If you normally don’t wear a certain colour, try a scarf or small accessory to start with. You don’t have to jump all in. You can ease yourself in slowly, so you can get more used to seeing yourself in that particular colour.
Test different Shades
As I mentioned above, you’re not going to like all shades of that colour, but chances are there might be one shade you like and that suits you. I had to find the right bright, peachy, vibrant orange for myself rather than a burnt auburn.
Thanks so much for reading this week’s blog post. I hope you’re going to join me in this challenge and comment down below what colour you normally avoid. Catch me on my social media for even more content and check back here next week for a new post. Have a lovely week friends!
