How I’ve Nailed Lockdown
Hello friends,
Hope you’ve been surviving and thriving this week. We celebrated my brother, Fergus’s, birthday this week, so we spent it baking chocolate cake, wrapping prezzies and eating yummy food. We also had a game night with friends which was filled with laughter. The weather hasn’t been the best this week, but we’ve made the most of it with more indoor board games and a James Bond movie marathon. Fergus also cooked us a fancy steak dinner last night which was one of the best steaks I’ve had. I’m probably going back to London soon, so I’m cherishing the time I’ve gotten to spend here with Fergus and Felicia. What have you been doing to keep busy this week?
This week I wanted to share one of my lockdown pass-times, painting my nails. It has been very therapeutic to have an outlet for my creativity and to have something pretty to look down at for a little pick me up. I’ve been painting my nails each week, and I wanted to compile some of my favorite designs here on the blog. I’ve done everything from clouds to flames to ombre! It’s been so nice to experiment with color and pattern. It’s also been a great way for me to feature some of my jewellery on my Instagram. Below are some of my tips for getting a bit more creative with your at-home manis!
Use Household Items
Some designs were definitely more challenging than others, (aka the flames which Fergus had to help me on my right hand), but I learned that you can do a lot with items you probably already have at home. Using a sponge is the best way to create the ombre effect and a q-tip can help make fluffy clouds. A bobby pin or end of a paintbrush can create perfect little polka dots too.
Perfection is not the Point
I also learned that they don’t need to be perfect, which is a big deal coming from a perfectionist. It’s more about thinking outside the box, creative expression, and doing something kind of therapeutic to take your mind off other things.
Comment down below which design was your favorite and what your go-to nail colour is. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep up this elaborate nail art after lockdown, but hopefully I can get creative with it every now and then. If you guys have any nail tips, please leave them below, as I’m still learning and I am by no means a professional at this lol. You can shop some of my nail polish choices and recommendations below if you’re interested. Remember to follow me on Instagram if you haven’t already as I’m so close to 4k!! Anyway, thank you so much for reading this week’s little post and check in next week for a new one. Have a great week guys!
