5 Hacks for Looking More Polished
Happy Sunday,
I hope you’re all having a nice weekend. Leave a comment down below telling me one thing that made yours a good one. I’ve been catching up with friends, checking out the shiny new Big Ben, doing a bit of cheeky shopping, and having lots of lovely food and drink as per the usual. We were also lucky enough to have some sunshine here in London again, which I was very grateful for.
For this week’s blog post, I wanted to talk about some simple tips for looking more polished on a daily basis. I know I have discussed topics like this before, but you don’t need to add anything to your wardrobe with these simple hacks. They can be applied to just about any outfit you already own.
Wrinkle in Time
Owning and knowing how to use an iron might seem simple, but this makes all the difference. (My mum is the ironing queen, so I learned this tip from the best.) A wrinkled outfit can immediately bring an outfit down, so make sure you’re crease free before leaving your house. If you’re not interested in ironing, try to shop for wrinkle-free fabrics.
All in the Details
Finishing off an outfit with jewellery, sunglasses, a scarf, or a hat can make your outfit look just that much more thought out. A little attention to detail goes a long way when it comes to putting together an outfit.
Nip & Tuck
Tuck in your blouse or shirt for an instant outfit boost. This is a simple tip to help make any look seem more chic and sophisticated. For this outfit, I tucked in my t-shirt to show off the skirt and because it’s tucked in, you can’t really tell that it’s just a vintage t-shirt.
Put it in Neutral
Neutrals are an easy way to look more chic and polished, especially if you’re not comfortable combining different hues. I recommend keeping it classic and simple if you’re unsure how to make colours look polished.
Comfort is Key
The thought that wearing an uncomfortable and stuffy outfit makes you look put together is a myth. You look much more polished if you’re wearing shoes you can walk in and you stand taller if you feel comfortable in an outfit. Make sure you feel comfortable and the outfit fits you well before committing to it. Don’t wear heels that are too high or clothing that is to tight or loose. Others will be able to tell how uncomfortable you are.
