Canine Couture
Happy Sunday friends,
Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend. I’ve finished quarantining after returning from the US, which means I’ve finally gotten to get back out and enjoy London again! My friend Katrina and I visited the Mayfield Lavender Fields which was my first time visiting a lavender field. It was glorious. We also finished off the trip with a lovely lavender filled lunch including lavender lemonade, which was life changing. I also got to pet some cute pups who were visiting the fields with their owners too. Overall it was a successful day. What did you get up to this weekend? Leave a comment down below so I can hear about your weekend as well.
This week, I wanted to dedicate a blog post to our beloved pup Marcy, who passed away last week and talk about the colliding of two of my favourite things, fashion and dogs. I’ve featured dogs a few times before on The Style Transplant including my two much missed pups,Derby and Marcy, including a post about why everyone should have a dog at least once in their life. For this post, my new puppy friend, Freddie and I have joined forces to bring you one of the cutest photoshoots I’ve done. (Go check out his Instagram now for all the fashionable dog content.) Have a read below about some of my favourite times these two seemingly separate worlds have collided and how you can get your own dog fix if you don’t have one to call your own.
Social Media Mutts
As we all know, two of the most popular social media topics are fashion and pets. By now, nearly everyone of our favourite fashion bloggers has a doggie sidekick, from Inthefrow’s long haired dachshund Bo, to Chloe Lecareux’s cocker spaniel Pepita, to Lydia Elise Millen’s sausage dog, Porter. Iggy has risen to TikTok fame all on his own and even been featured in VOGUE, and Boobie has created his own fashion line for people. These furry social media stars are constantly bridging the gap between fashion and our beloved pets. The trendiest canines have shaken up the social media fashion space in a much needed way by proving that fashion doesn’t always have to be as serious as the stone faced models who walk most runways, in fact it’s one of the most fun forms of self-expression for both people and pets.
Pups and Publicity
There has been a recent rise of dogs in advertising as well. Tod’s last Christmas campaign traded traditional human models for the canine kind and the results were incredibly cute and effective. The brand Lela Rose swapped the usual catwalk for a dog show-themed runway where each model had a cute canine companion to accompany them down the catwalk.
get your pet fix
So with all this puppy talk you’re probably asking how you can get your fix when you don’t have one of your own. London and surrounding areas boast plenty of pet centric experiences from Puppy Yoga, to The Golden Retriever Experience, to local city farms. Even just spending time in your local park or reaching out on social media (like I did with Freddie) can lead to meeting some gorgeous pups. There are endless ways to get your furry fix whether that’s signing up for Borrow My Doggie or seeking out a puppy experience in your area.
Thank you for reading this week’s blog post. I hope you enjoyed these photos of Freddie and I as much as I enjoyed meeting him and taking photos with him. Make sure to go over to his profile and give him a follow. A big shout out goes to Lucy for taking these photos for us too! If you already have a pup of your own please share in the comments along with your favourite story about them! Anyway hope you’re having a lovely week and check back next week for a new post.
