5 Things to Borrow from Your Mum’s Closet

Happy Sunday lovelies,

I hope you guys are having the best weekend so far. Mine has consisted of relaxing, eating, and trying to keep out of the rain. Yesterday, our yoga in the park got cancelled due to rain but we still managed to get coffee and pastries in the park. I also got a lovely brunch of harissa sweet potato cakes with egg, with my friend Jade. This afternoon, I got stuck in the flooding outside my tube station and had to roll up my trousers and wade through in my Dr. Martens…not sure what is happening with the weather right now. I’m home now and drying out luckily haha. What have you guys been up to? Have you experienced any weird flooding?
For this week’s blog post, I wanted to talk about why you should take a trip into your mum’s closet, especially if she’s got some gems from the 80s or 90s. Playing dressing in your mum’s closet can’t really be outgrown. Even VOGUE has done an article on clothes editors have stolen from their mother’s. Read below to see what items you should keep an eye out for.

Blazers Business

Chances are your mum’s closet has a few blazers from the 80s or 90s that would be perfect for incorporating into your own wardrobe. I ‘stole’ this one from my mum, added a belt and boots and I’m obsessed! Thanks mum!

Vintage Scarves

As I’ve talked about in previous posts, scarves are THE accessory of the season and there’s a multitude of ways to style them up. Your mum is sure to have a couple you can style up for the summer.

Heirloom Jewellery

If you’re very lucky, your mum might have some old jewellery that will spice up your own outfits. Jewellery will stand the test of time, so you’re bound to find a few treasures that your mum is no longer wearing like a cute pair of earrings or a signet ring.

Designer Bags

We all know designer bags actually gain value over time unlike most items and your mum knows this too. If she’s quite into fashion, she might just have some designer bags she plans to pass down to you one day. Ask her if you might be able to borrow now and you can bond over your love for all things luxury.

Cute Cardigans

Cardigans are very on trend this season and mum’s seem to love a cosy cardi. Dip into her wardrobe to find some cardigans and jumpers you can work into your own wardrobe. I recommend trying any that button up and pair them with a cute pair of jeans.

Thank you for reading this week’s blog post and a special thank you to mums for providing us with a second wardrobe! Comment down below what gems you’ve found in your mum’s closet recently. Check back next week for a new post and in the mean time, check out my Instagram and TikTok for extra content. Have an amazing week guys.
