A Touch of the 80s
Hi lovely readers,
How are you all doing? I hope you've all had a successful and mostly stress-free week. For this week's post, I want to take you back to the 80s...well maybe not all the way back, but why not dip our toes in a little? We need to discuss how past trends are influencing style today and which throwbacks you should bring back.
It's all about the runway. Looking to the runway always helps to inform which past trends might be rediscovered this season. This season, there are some key decades and pieces within those decades to look out for. These are the blasts from the past that you should try out:
- 1900s: corset-style tops and frilled blouses
- 60s: A-line skirts/dresses, ankle boots, & the turtleneck
- 70s: Flared/bell sleeves
- 80s: Oversized glasses, exaggerated shoulders, graphic sweaters
- 90s: High-waisted mom jeans, chokers, cropped tops
For this particular outfit, I've decided to to channel a little 80s with a v-neck jumper from Shein and some oversized specs from Polette! I layered a simple grey turtleneck, from J. Crew, under my sweater to give it a more updated vibe. I added my rose-gold metallic loafers to tie in with my pink frames. I finished off the outfit with a springy pop of light blue with my favorite H&M coat.
Next time you're contemplating a little throwback, go for it! Add those oversized glasses or throw on that bell-sleeve top to compliment your contemporary style! Comment down below what your favorite throwback piece is. Thank you so much for reading as always and join me again next week for another post!
