Why You Should Dress Up Even if You Have Nowhere to Go

Happy Sunday friends,

How are you all doing in self-isolation? The UK is officially on lockdown now, and I must admit that I’m losing track of the days now. I almost forgot that today was blog post day. What have you been doing to keep busy in self isolation? I’ve been drawing, reading, baking, puzzling, and working out to keep myself busy. It’s been nice to revisit some of my old hobbies and reconnect with friends through Facetime. I even made a pub quiz to do with my family this weekend. Anyway, let’s get on to this week’s post.
Today, I wanted to talk about how important it is to get dressed up even if you have nowhere to go. I think this is more important now than ever, and below I’ve explained why. Hopefully, this post will get you out of your sweatpants and wearing some of your favorite dresses again, even if just to walk to the kitchen or a stroll to the living room.

Improve Productivity

Getting dressed everyday tells your brain to awaken and become prepared for the rest of the day, therefore resulting in higher productivity. It sets the tone for the rest of your day, whereas wearing your pajamas or sweatsuit all day tells your brain that it doesn’t need to work as hard. With this subconscious hint, you are more likely to stay focused and feel inspired throughout the day.

Lighten Your Mood

You can’t tell me you don’t feel instantly better once you put on a cute outfit. Wearing something you feel amazing in is definitely a mood and confidence booster. I always find myself having a better day when I’m wearing one of my favorite outfits. I’ve been getting dressed up and even throwing on a bit of makeup somedays, and I feel so much better for it.

Maintain Normality

Especially during times like these, it is so important to maintain as much normality as possible. I feel like keeping as many things the same as your daily (pre-virus) routine will help you feel less anxious and stressed throughout the day.

Thanks so much for reading this week’s blog post. Comment down below what you’re wearing to make your day a bit brighter and also any hobbies you’ve adopted while in self isolation. I’m always looking for new things to do. A special thank you goes out to the lovely Zoe Griffin for taking these photos on my last photoshoot prior to lockdown. This was one of my favorite photoshoots to date and this might be my favorite outfit at the minute too. (I had my last meal in a restaurant before lockdown on that day as well…pizza of course!) Anyway, you can shop similar items to my outfit below if you’re interested and follow me on social media to see what I’m up to during self isolation. I’m trying to post everyday, so hopefully that will keep you busy and entertained. Check out last week’s post for ideas on how to use this mandatory time at home. Check back next week for a new post!
