Layer Like a Pro
Hello friends,
Since the temperature is dropping and party season is just around the corner, I thought it was about time we talk about layering and how to do it like a pro. I've chosen a daytime and a nighttime look to show how I'm using basics to create the perfect layered effect.
The first look is an easy, casual outfit for running around town or going to class. To make this black tank a little more appropriate for a fall day, I added a plain white tee under it. This is an easy way to take summery tank tops and make them more fall friendly. You could also go for a plain long sleeve top or turtleneck instead of the tee if you wanted to be a bit warmer.
I topped off my layering with a red leather jacket from Style Encore. This is super easy to throw on and adds cool factor to any outfit. I then slipped on some straight, cropped jeans and my custom adidas tennis shoes. To accessorize the look, I added my black and gold Armitron watch, and there you have it! An easy and casual transition outfit.

For the more dressy look, I decided to go with this black velvet dress from Piko (Style Encore) because, as you all know, velvet is extremely in this season. Since it is sleeveless, and I'm cold all the time, I knew I would need a little something to warm up this look. I decided to pop on a plain white turtleneck to keep my arms and neck warm and cozy under my velvet ensemble. I then applied the very same layering effect to my feet by adding some festive, glittery socks under my heels. This is one of my favorite little tricks to jazz up a pair of usually-summery heels for the new season. I finished off my whole outfit by grabbing my Poupee de Papier bag in a holiday red and slipping on my timeless, gold watch from Armitron.
